Sebastian Vettel is 2010 WDC!

Sebastian Vettel did a faultless drive from pole to win in the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, and subsequently took his first driver’s championship after his rivals failed to achieve their target positions due to strategy mishaps.

At 23years and 134 days old, the German is now the youngest F1 champion.

His team, Red Bull Racing, had gone into the weekend as Constructors Champions after they secured it win a 1-2 in Brazil.

Vettel’s teammate Mark Webber, who was also a title contender, had earlier struggled with his rear tyres and came in for an early stop before rival Fernando Alonso. Webber ended up behind Jaime Alguersuari of sister team Toro Rosso for one lap.

The Ferrari driver only managed to finish 7th as the Spaniard got bottled up behind Renault’s Vitaly Petrov after what seemed to be an unwise early pitstop. Alonso had Webber right behind him after the Australian passed Alguersuari. However, Petrov proved to be a big challenge as Alonso couldn’t pass him for the rest of the race.

Vettel collected 256 this season, Alonso 252, and Webber 242.
