Japanese GP Qualifying Postponed to Sunday morning

Qualifying session for the Japanese Grand Prix at Suzuka has been postponed to Sunday, 10am local time (9am Manila time) due to heavy rains that poured on the track Saturday.

In Free Practice 3, only STR’s Jaime Alguersuari and Virgin Racing’s Timo Glock managed to set laptimes, as pools of standing water were almost everywhere on track. McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton has been quoted saying the cars are “impossible to drive” under those conditions.

Conditions got worse until qualifying, where at 3:30pm local time, FIA Race Control declared the postponement of qualifying to Sunday morning. Charlie Whiting is set to inspect the track at 9:30am Sunday and will make another announcement to confirm whether the session will push through at 10am.
